What is the difference between all versions of bibles?

Question by Armani Gavin: What is the difference between all versions of bibles?

I do not know which one to buy. I am looking for bible so I can understand references to the bible in literature, is KGV version best for this?

NIV and KJV are more common. NIV is probably easier to follow.
