Recently hatched Western gull chick with parents.

This is the first day that I have seen a chick from this nest. The parent may still be on eggs, and there is certainly one other very young chick under the parent. The chick only came out from under it's parent very briefly, and then went back in to the protection of it's parent.
It is trying to flap it's tiny wings.
Cobweb Hen and Chicks

This shot shows why they're called Cobweb Hen and Chicks. The gauze-like fibers covering the leaf rosettes are apparently created by the plant, but they look like a spider has been hard at work.
