Tech note: Normally, you'd expect to see me underexpose (-1/3 EV to -2 EV) shots of white birds like this to prevent blowout of the whites. Here however, you see no Exposure Bias (0 EV), which may seem counter-intuitive, until you observe that the exposure metering mode used here was "spot" instead of my usual "evaluative." Based on Art Morris' recommendation, until today I had actually disabled all metering modes in my 1D Mark III in C,Fn 1-10, except for evaluative, with the theory that controlling a minimum number of variables is optimal in the field.
