What are some good fantasy novels featuring females heroines?

I'm still on the hunt for some more great heroine novels. There just aren't enough good ones! I deeply enjoyed the following ones: Wit'ch Fire series, Sabriel series, The Thief's Gamble series, and anything by Robin McKinley.

But I don't think that covers much ground and I'm sure there are tons out there that I'm missing.

Please no vampire type stuff.

Also, books where the main character is a male with perhaps a strong secondary female character are fine.

Most (possibly all) of Anne McCaffrey's books have strong leading female characters. I'm not sure I'd describe them as "great novels" but I enjoy reading them :)
